Things I've Learned From My Previous Relationship

It was my last year in high school, weeks before my graduation to be precise, when I had my first boyfriend.  I thought everything is perfect but I woke up one day and realized that I am no longer that dreamy-eyed high school girl who fell in love with her crush. Yes, it was me. I was the b*tch of that relationship. I have outgrown my boyfriend. I was young and it's all puppy love but I've learned a lot from that experience. I rarely talk about it since it is a very sensitive subject for me. Well let's just say that the topic is quite personal. It's like opening up an old wound or scar... Don't get me wrong. I've already moved on, sooner than I've expected. But given the chance to look back and turn back time, here are things I would advise to my younger self regarding relationship matters. I decided to divide it into three parts: Before, During, and After (the relationship).

Before
Don't hurry yourself. If your friends are getting into relationships and you're not, it doesn't mean that you are not "IN" and you need to have a boyfriend/girlfriend as well. Savor every moment of your 'singleness' . Don't be afraid that you'll get teased just because you don't have a boyfriend yet. I know it's peer pressure but they are not the one who will be handling your life. You have to ask yourself whether you're ready or not. Because that time, I know I'm not ready yet and I just want to prove to my friends that I can have him as my boyfriend. So immature. You're young but don't waste your time proving yourself to other people. Loosen up!

During
I've said a million times over that communication is  one of the key if you want to make your relationship work. You need to tell your boyfriend/girlfriend if something's going on. There might be some misunderstandings but you NEED to voice out your opinion and what's on your mind. He or she might disagree or worse get angry but it's better than keeping it to yourself. Keeping your silence isn't good. It'll pile up until you realize that it's beginning to suffocate you. It's unhealthy. Have the guts and be firm to tell  your boyfriend that he needs to talk to you first before he tell on you. You will lose the respect you have to your boyfriend as well as the one you have for yourself  if you let him let other people meddle with your relationship and let them captain the boat. It's not bad if both of you seek advice from other people but letting them control you, is totally NOT OK.

After
Breathe. Getting out of relationship is hard. Most specially if it's a long one. You have to think that life needs to go on. No need to look back and regret that you have broken up with him. Never regret leaving a situation that no longer makes you happy. Yes, I know that your mind was all blur during the first months but you need to think  of the reason why you got yourself out of that relationship. Go out and make up with your friends and enjoy your life. It's not all "How-will-I-survive-without-him?" Soon, you'll realize that life has a lot of things to offer. You will meet new people and you will cherish them.

I'm not a pro when it comes to relationship thingy, I just based all my advice to my younger self  on what I've experienced. I am not bad-mouthing my ex or anything like that. I am not playing the blame game. Both of us have our own shortcomings and we were both young when it all happened. I never regret meeting him. It's all part of the experience. I've learned my lesson and I've made sure not to make the same mistakes again.

The Glam Guide By Fleur De Force Book Review

The Glam Guide, Fleur De Force, Book, Book Review, Beauty

Fleur De Force is one of my favorite Youtuber. So when she announced that she'll be releasing The Glam Guide, I was beyond ecstatic! The only problem is, it's so hard to get hold of the book here in the Philippines! And luckily for me, it was available when I checked it from National Bookstore on my birthday. You can only imagine my happiness!!!

The Glam Guide brims with tips and advice for every girls who looks forward in looking chic and stylish. From make-up, to fashion, travel, you name it! I am not the type of girl who wears full make up on a daily basis but the world of make-up and cosmetics fascinate me.  That's why I'm glad when she discussed about make up must-haves, the perfect ways on how to choose the correct foundation and the right make-up brush to use. Fleur also tackles about the perfect shade of eye shadow to use to match your eye color. But of course let's not forget the topic about skin care and the chemicals and parabens to avoid when choosing your skin products and cosmetics.

I love that she emphasized to stick with classic pieces when it comes to your wardrobe essentials. And I totally agree with her when she mentioned to take your time when choosing the perfect pair jeans.  I am  salesperson's nightmare when it comes to jeans but you know, every girl needs to get the perfect fit!

But most importantly I love how she discussed about body image, self confidence and being positive. I strongly agree with her. I believe that everything will follow if you're confident about yourself. I used to compare myself with other people and it is frustrating. I realized that other people's success shouldn't be the yardstick of my own. It's my life anyway. Don't let other people's opinion define yours.

I won't get tired of buying these types of books. I bought my copy from National Bookstore and hopefully it is still available. It costs P799.00. The pages are filled with nicely drawn illustrations and photos and the topics are properly organized.  I highly recommend The Glam Guide if you're looking for some tips and advice on how to be perfectly chic. And I assure you, you won't regret buying it!

3D Nail Stickers From Girl Stuff!!!

I've been M.I.A. these past few months and I know it's too cliche if I tell you I'm busy. I feel a bit guilty since I consider this little space in the interweb my baby (BAE!) but I'm neglecting it in the past few months. My blogging notebook brims with ideas to post but I am a bit demotivated to post it all. Anyway, I decided to resurrect myself and think of the things that make me happy: chocolate, lipstick and anything nail related. And you know how I love nail art!

Nail Art, Nail Stickers, Nail Polish, Nails, Beauty,

I recently purchased these 3D nail decals or nail stickers from Girl Stuff. Each case costs only P80, not bad for these super duper chic nail decals. They are sorted based on a theme: fruits, butterflies, sweets, florals and gem studs! It's so cute!!! These are perfect accent to your regular nail polish and it can give an oomp!!! to your nail art creations!

Nail Art, Nail Stickers, Nail Polish, Nails, Beauty,
Glam Guide by FleurDeForce at the background!

These babies are easy to apply. You can use nail glue but if it's not available, you can use your regular white glue like Elmer's but make sure that the glue is a bit tacky before application. You can also try using your clear nail polish. These nail decals are delicate so don't forget to use tweezers!

Nail Art, Nail Stickers, Nail Polish, Nails, Beauty,

The possibilities are endless with these nail stickers. I think it's a must-have for every nail art fanatic. There's no need for you to be a nail expert in order to use it. In fact it can make you look like one. I am looking forward in using all of these. And will I definitely repurchase? Definitely YES!!!!!

BESTIES Book Review | #bestiesbookclub

Solenn Heussaff and Georgina Wilson recently released BESTIES and I am highly impressed with the book's content. I could say that it's already included in my top favorites when I first read it. I was also quite surprised that it's cheaper compared to the other books with the same genre. It's only P195 and available at all National Bookstore nationwide!

The book gives us a sneak peak to their life by the collection of their photos growing up. It also made me realize that 'IT' girls like Sos and George have their own share of shitty things all girls experience like bad hair hair and tough break ups. I also love the topic on how they tackle topics like self-confidence, finance and friendship. It's not a book where it tells you 'this-what-you-have-to-do-and-how-to-lead-your-life'. It give you a simple guidance on how you do certain things based on the authors' perspective.

The book brims with with photos- I think 80% of it. Photos like their  travel, food, make-up must have and simple tutorials and of course who will miss the black-and-white photos of Sos and George it black swimmies. I could guarantee that you'll enjoy reading the book as much as I do.

However here are my favorite pages:

Let's start!!!

Baguio City Succulents!

Hello there! I could definitely say that Baguio is my current favorite city. There's a 90% chance that I'll have my suitcase packed and live there for good in the near future. Aside from the weather, what I love about Baguio is its closeness and ability to connect with nature. So if youre living in Manila, here's your chance to get closer to nature without leaving your home.  You can find one of the succulents/herb heaven in Mines View Park. There's actually a lot to choose from. I wasn't able to ask about the prices but I think it's worth every penny. So don't forget to bring one home. Unfortunately I wasn't able to buy one due to lack of time. =(

I actually want to include these pictures in my first Baguio post but I think these babies deserve a separate post. So here are the photos I've taken. Enjoy!!!

My Unexpected Trip To Baguio City

Baguio City, Travel, Burnham Park, Mines View Park, Strawberry Farm, La Presa, Strawberry, Pine Tree, Philippines
Last Sunday (March 29), I was able to do something which I consider another 'milestone' in my entire existence. I went to Baguio City without any reservations or planning whatsoever. I've been there numerous times but this is my first unplanned travel. It is so impulsive and definitely beyond my comfort zone. I will never go to places farther than Manila without planning ahead of time. It is totally insane and out of the blue. The day before (Saturday afternoon to be exact), me and my workmates were talking about how good Baguio is especially this summer. It gave me an idea to go to Baguio at that very moment. I even told one of my colleague that I'll be leaving later that evening and she didn't believe me.

My adventure started at 12:30 am (it's already Sunday). Every bus was fully booked both the regular and first class since it's the Lenten Week. Almost everyone from the Metro wants to go to the province. I was told by the ticketing lady that the next available trip will be at 7am and that's six hours of waiting time. I was about to accept my defeat when I the guard assisting the passengers for 1am trip said that I can wait in the chance passengers queue since not all who booked on their scheduled trip was  able to make it on time or they were able to ride the earlier trip as chance passengers as well. Needless to say, I was able to take the 2am trip.

I arrived at about 8am and the first thing I did was to secure my trip back to Manila. I learnt my lesson! Luckily I was easily able to get a place to stay. Here's the picture of the lobby where I stayed. I wasn't able to get a decent picture of my room since I was too tired.

Baguio City, Travel, Burnham Park, Mines View Park, Strawberry Farm, La Presa, Strawberry, Pine Tree, Philippines

The first place I visited was Burnham Park. For me, it's family friendly. There's a man-made lake where you can rent one of these fancy boats for about P150 for thirty minutes. You can also hire someone to row it for you.

Aside from boating, you can also rent a bike (P40/hr) or a pedicab (P50/hr). There's also a lot of street vendors where you can buy strawberry ice cream, green mangoes with spicy salt and crispy pork skin in case you're hungry.

The next day, I woke up late. I took a quick shower and head on to my next destination: Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad which is approximately 6km away from Baguio according to Google Maps. You can take the jeepneys near Rizal Park and it only costs P11.

It's quite sunny and windy when I arrived. I can say that Strawberry Farm is your pasalubong  mecca. There's actually a lot to choose from: peanut brittle, lengua de gato, crinkles, key chains..the list go on. I bought fresh strawberries and a bottle of strawberry preserve. You can also  experience strawberry picking for only P400.

Next, I headed to Mines View Park.  I took a taxi this time and it's  worth it. I praise Baguio taxi cab drivers for being honest. They always return even the last centavo of your change.

Mines View Park is an observation deck where you can view the mining town of Itogon. What I actually love is the vast selection of bonsai plants they sell in the park. I was actually tempted to buy one. The grilled dried squid and corn cobs were heaven!

This unexpected trip is a liberating experience for me. It started out as a blank slate with a bit of impulsiveness on the side. It also opens my mind to the world of travelling. I already listed the places that I want to visit and I am beginning to save up for it. This trip made me realize that life really starts at the end of your comfort zone and I am missing out a lot of things. Impulsive decisions aren't bad after all. Just say YES!

What's In My Make Up Bag?

Emergency bag, Make up bag, Liptint, Cheektint, Powder, Sanitizer, beauty, blogger, maybelline babylips, the face shop, Kleenex oil blotting film,
In my previous post, I mentioned that I'll be posting the things I have inside my emergency pouch. I don't want to call this a 'make up bag' because it's really not a make up bag..actually it's more of a utility/emergency bag. But you can call it 'make up bag' if you want. I recently downsized what I put inside my bag and it goes the same with this tote. I only put what I really need. It used to include three lippies, another set of mattifying powder and tons of hair ties! I got this bag from a weekend bazaar. I think it costs only P50.

So what's inside? Let get diggin'...

Emergency bag, Make up bag, Liptint, Cheektint, Powder, Sanitizer, beauty, blogger, maybelline babylips, the face shop, Kleenex oil blotting film,

  • Pressed Powder- I don't like having an oily face. This one is from TheFaceShop. I like how it keeps the oil at bay. It also helps blur my pores. I love this!
  • Oil Blotting Film - The pressed powder's BFF. Sometimes there's no need for me to use the powder at all!
  • Lip/Cheek Tint- The ultimate lifesaver. It's also from TheFaceShop. I love its cherry-like scent and how it gives my face that uulzang vibe. It's the only thing that adds color to my face. I don't really wear full make in everyday basis so this is a spot on!
  • Lip Balm - This one's from Maybelline. I like how it saves my lips my being chapped.
  • Hand Sanitizer -I'm a bit of a germaphobe. I like its fresh scent. I got this from Watson's. It's on Buy1Take1 deal so who am I to refuse?
  • Pain Reliever - I was on my  first day of period during the time of filming. Girls, you know what  it feels like during that time of the month!!!
How about you? What's on your make up bag?

What's In My Bag?

What's inside my bag

If you'll check my 'Most Viewed' list in Youtube, you will  discover that I love watching 'What's in my Bag/Purse?' videos. They say that the bag and whatever comes with it describes the owner's personality. That's the reason why I love snooping  on to my favorite Youtubers' bags! I used to bring the whole house but I realized that it's impractical and makes my bag a lot  heavier! So I decided to bring only those that matter.

What's inside my bag, umbrella, samsung galaxy s4, wallet, what's in my purse, nude bag, beige bag, hello kitty wallet, hello kitty, beauty, blogger

What's inside?
  • Phone. I am someone who can't live without my phone. I used it listen to my favorite music, read ebooks if I'm on the go, or take pictures. And I'm currently addicted to Farmville! It makes me connected (Twitter and Instagram). I reactivated my Facebook because of Messenger, I rarely check my newsfeed though.
  • Notebook and a pen. For notes, blog ideas, and budgeting purposes. There's something about notebooks and pens and I can't make myself get rid of these babies.
  • Wallet.  For ATM cards, money, receipts and housekey.
  • Emergency Pouch. I want to say 'Make Up Bag', but it's more of emergency pouch for me. I'll be posting what's inside within the week.
  • Umbrella. I hate Manila's ever changing weather. The sun's up in the morning but it rains in the afternoon.
  • Gum. It's actually an empty gum container where I place my P1000 bills.=)
  • Earphones and Work ID. Not in the picture but equally important.
What about you? What's inside your bag?

What's In My Playlist?

playlist, taylor swift, sia, one direction, kid cudi, lorde, pentatonix,
I love music.. as in totally love music. Whenever I'm alone or if I'm commuting to work I always have my earphones plugged in and my music playlist in full blast. I definitely can't live without music. My taste in music is slightly varied. Growing up I love to listen to Spice Girls, Linkin Park, Blink 182, ABBA, and the Carpenters. And who can forget THE Backstreet Boys??? I was a total fan during gradeschool! It's so obvs that I'm a '90s baby!

Listening to music is my way of knocking off boredom. It calms my nerves whenever I'm stressed (with the right genre of course). Sometimes I don't really care about the lyrics, just the melody of the song. I'm totally fine with it. i really wish that I could sing and play the piano. I can play the guitar but not that pro though.

Anyway, I am blabbing about music but what do I have on my playlist? What do I usually listen to? I randomly picked songs and I don't want to play favorite. And YES all of them are on my 'Most Played' list. Here they are.

Don't Judge....

Taylor Swift- Blank Space

Sia- Chandelier

Lorde- Team

One Direction- Night Changes

Pentatonix- Royals

Taylor Swift- Welcome to New York

Kid Cudi ft Kanye West - Make Her Say

Well.. how about you? What type of music do you like?

Let's Start Afresh | Hjamnettelikes

new year, planning, start, starting over, fresh

I can't believe I didn't write anything for 2014...
And I can't believe it's already 2015. I can still remember when I started this blog. I don't know if someone will take time to read. I just wanted to write and share whatever what's on my mind.I want to say that 2014 was a great year for me but it's not. Maybe I'm expecting too much from myself. I've set the bar too high which is a bit depressing.

Well, enough of 2014's drama. Let's all leave 2014 and LET'S START AFRESH!!!

I don't want to set  another New Year's Resolution that I won't be able to commit myself into. I always want 'realistic' ones but this year I am very much committed into be more positive than ever and don't be too hard on myself.

I also set some goals, not a resolution but more of a 'to do' list that I can tick off once I'm able to do it. Here are the items that are currently on my list:
  • Set a 'date' with cousins and friends.
  • Go to Boracay or Cebu or Bohol (which ever comes first).
  • Try sushi and give it a chance.
  • Send pre-loved clothes to charity.
  • Ride a ferris wheel.
  • Cook "TheBoy" his favorite dish.
I also made some drafts for upcoming blog post. Hopefully I'll be able to edit it..take more photos and  post it soon. You know, the works. I am wishing for a good 2015 for all of us. Be inspired and continue to smile. Spread the love..
