NOTD Inspiration: Spring x Autumn

It's already autumn or fall (whatever you call it) in some countries in northern hemisphere but it's spring in the south. Since I live in a tropical country, we only get to enjoy two seasons: wet or dry, climate depends on the amount of rain according to Mr. Wikipedia. I love to imagine wearing autumn and winter clothing. The only good thing living in a tropical country I can think of, clothing-wise, is I get to save money for other things (ie. We can 'recycle' our clothes! You can wear your summer dress during the cold season, you just need to wear it with cardigan=D).

I love incorporating everything with NOTD. So I hope you'll  like this season-mash up inspired nail art.

nail art, NOTD, autumn, spring, glitter nails, nail, nail polish, glitter, blue,

We need:
- lilac or light blue nail polish
- ox blood red, maroon, or any dark red nail polish
- glitter polish

Here's how:
  1. Start with clean nails and apply your base coat to protect your natural nails.
  2. Apply two coats of lilac nail polish except for the accent nail.
  3. Paint the accent nail with your dark red polish, let it dry and apply your glitter polish.
  4. Lastly apply top coat.
Tip: You can also try to do it vice versa (lilac + glitter on the accent nail and dark red on the rest).

How about you? Have you tried any crazy NOTD combo before? If not, you can add this to your list! 'Til next post...

NOTD: Accidental Nail Art

Hi!! I hope you still remember me. I 'might' post an entry why I've been MIA for the last couple of months. Writer's block? Laziness maybe? I don't know. I just lacked motivation. Anyway, let's throw all those excuses and let's focus on something I really love doing: NAIL ART!

I was thinking of geometric pattern like drawing a V and filling it with red polish but I wasn't able to place the tip in the center. So I decided to draw another diagonal line to form an X to make up for it.
nail art, NOTD, accidental nail art, nail polish

You'll need:
- light pink nail  polish
- red nail polish
- your not-so-steady hand (just kidding!)

Here's how:

  1. Clean you nails as usual. If you have dry cuticles, lather them with cuticle oil or lotion (which I obviously forgot).
  2. Apply your favorite base coat.
  3. Paint your nails with your light pink nail polish. Let it dry.
  4. Paint an X with the other leg shorter than the other using your red nail polish. Make sure that the it's not in the center.
  5. Finish it with your top coat.

I hope you like this simple nail tutorial. 'Til next time!!!

Family Reunion 2013

We, Filipinos, are known for being family-oriented. The strong family ties run from one generation to another. We inherited this trait from our Chinese ancestors who came to the Philippines gazillion years ago during the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade, I think. Or maybe because we used to be a colony of Spain, then US and three years from the Japs during WWII so we decided to stand on our own and claim our independence for real.

We always have our annual family reunion on Holy Saturday. It's our yearly tradition and it is something I always look forward celebrating. I love the food and watching my little cousins play parlor games. Here are some snaps I took from our recent reunion.

They want to eat it all!!!

I wish your family is as close-knitted as mine. Thank you for reading. =D

NOTD Inspiration: French Manicure + Bling + Polka Dots

Hello there!

The other day, I was painting my nails the traditional French Manicure. If you haven't tried that or you're not aware what that is, please check Google for images. Just kidding! Well, it's the type of manicure wherein you paint the part of your nail which is not attached to the nail bed (aka only the tips) with white nail polish. But after an hour, I decided to take it off due to these shallow reasons: (a.) It looks fake since I have short nails. (b.) I got bored. So I decided to create this nail art with the French Manicure still on my mind. I call it French Manicure with a twist!
nail art, NOTD, french manicure, polka dot, polka dot nail art, glitter nail art, bling
For this NOTD, you'll need:
- nude/neutral nail polish
- black nail polish
- nail rhinestones or your glitter polish, choose the one with circle/hexagon shapes (like the one I used)
- nail dotting tool or tooth pick

Let's begin!

  1. Start with clean nails and apply base coat to protect your nails.
  2. Then paint two coats of nude nail polish and allow it to dry.
  3. Using your nail dotting tool, begin lining the tip of your nails with black dots. Make sure that the dots are a bit bigger than your nail rhinestones/glitter.
  4. With your steady hand, carefully apply nail rhinestones on every dots you made. In my case since I used a glitter polish, I smeared a drop of glitter polish on a paper with scotch tape. Then I used my nail dotting tool (the one with super pointed end) to 'harvest' the hexagon glitter to attach it to the dots.
  5. Finish it with top coat to protect your nails.
Hopefully you like this nail tutorial. I'm really into nails these past few days and I have an unhealthy habit of changing my nail polish from time to time, so expect more NOTD/nail art posts! =D

NOTD Inspiration: Pink + Sparkly Sand

It's NOTD time again and I'm currently obsessed with anything glittery and sparkly.  I might paint my nails with different colors EACH but this is my first time to try this type of nail art wherein you paint the ring fingernail with a polish different from the rest (don't judge, please!!!). I chose pink for this NOTD since it's great  for  spring/summer season and for me it's a happy color!
nail art, NOTD, sparkly nail art, glitter nail art, manicure, nail polish, summer nails,
For this NOTD 'tutorial', you'll need:
- glittery/sandy textured pink nail polish (I used Chic Glaze in Siam)
- light pink polish (Etude House's Look At My Cotton Candy Nails in CPK001)
- glitter polish (TheFaceShop SL211)

Let's start!
  1. Prep your nails (buff and apply base coat).
  2. Paint your nails (except for the ring fingernail) with two coats of sandy textured pink nail polish.
  3. Apply two coats of light pink polish on the ring fingernail and allow to dry.
  4. Apply the glitter polish on top of the light nail polish.
  5. Finish it with your favorite top coat.

Good luck!!!

Quitting Facebook

If you're my friend in facebook or twitter, you probably know that I recently deactivated my facebook account. So you won't be able see my face in your facebook news feed (though I rarely post any updates/status), you won't be able to send me message, and you won't be able to stalk me (haha). You might think that I'm being the least sociable person on earth, the anti-social.

NO!!! That's not true! If you'll check my sidebar, I have twitter, tumblr, instagram and this blog. I think I have joined too much social networking sites and I need to deactivate one of them. But what made me quit facebook? You might think I've gone bonkers to choose facebook, not twitter or tumblr or this blog. Facebook is the most accessible! Here's my list to justify why I quit facebook:
  1. There are a lot of people whom I don't know personally who send me personal messages. It creeps me  out big time!
  2. Being harassed by 'stalkers' is the worst thing ever!
  3. I don't like being tagged to things that I'm not associated with, like product promotions, WITHOUT my permission. (Though I used to manage and review the posts before they appear on my wall.)
  4. I got sick of people posting about their life on facebook as if it's their diary. Don't hate me on this but I have some friends who share a LOT of personal info about themselve. I know it's their facebook but it's appearing on my news feed. I also have some friends who love to share emo stuff without thinking that their negativity might affect others (Yes! I'm greatly affected as you can see.)
  5. I hate seeing 'friends' who love to show off on facebook. I don't care if you have a new bag. As if you bought it with with your own money.
  6. Fake likers and fake friends that I 'accidentally' accepted.
  7. My friends who never get tired of shipping me to my ex. It's so old school and it's been half a decade already since our break up. I hate it when they pair me back to him. I think they don't know the word respect.
I know it's a tough decision to quit facebook. You might also think that I could easily unfriend  and filter what I'm seeing on my news feed, but there's a lot them. I'm too lazy to filter them all. I am not advocating  to ban facebook but be careful of what you share and control what will appear on your profile.  And lastly, to my facebook friends, you won't be missing me after all. I have twitter and this blog. =D

NOTD Inspiration: Summer Sky + Glitter

I have to tie my hair in a bun 99% of the time since it's scorching hot. I can't bear to go outside or else I'll get toasted from the heat. There's no denying summer's really here! Time for the beach, halo-halo, and sun dress! It's also time for your dark nail polish to take some rest. And here's a cute summer-inspired NOTD that I'm going to share with you:

You'll need:
- powder blue/ light blue nail polish
- glitter polish

Let's start!
  1. Prep your nails and top with base coat.
  2. Apply two coats of  blue nail polish and let it dry.
  3. Paint two to three coats of glitter polish.
  4. Lastly, apply top coat.

Good luck!!!

P.S. I'm currently into nails as of the moment, 'til next post!

Everyday 'Make-Up'

I love make-up, specially lipstick. I love reading blogs about beauty and make up/products review. But you'll be surprised if you'll know that I barely wear make up. I find foundations and BB creams sticky and 'heavy' on my face and I'm not that brave enough to wear eye shadows on a daily basis.

But what do I usually put on my face?
everyday make up, bench pretty when pinched, revlon, revlon berry smoothie, cheek tint, maybelline, maybelline falsies mascara

everyday make up, bench pretty when pinched, revlon, revlon berry smoothie, cheek tint, maybelline, maybelline falsies mascara

I have a dry skin so it always starts with my trusted  moisturizer, sunscreen and loose power on my T-zone. I think I'm pretty blessed since I didn't suffer from acne and break outs during my teenage years. I only get pimples during red days and I'm so thankful they never leave any scar. But don't think that I my skin is super clear, ha! I WISH!!!!

After putting on moisturizer and all that stuff is cheek tint time. What I use is prettywhenpinch from Bench- a dupe of Benetint and a way lot cheaper! I don't use cream or powder blush since in my opinion it has a tendency to clog pores compared to this cheek tint since this one is very liquid and has a water-like consistensy. And it's easy to apply! I don't put too much, I don't want to look like as if someone slapped my face. Cheek tint is the make up product that I can't live without because it's dual purpose: as a blusher and lip tint.

Then I curl my lashes and put on my mascara. I am currently using The Falsies Volum' Express from Maybelline and I'm very much impressed. I don't use eye brow pencil, my eyebrows are thick that only need threading once a month. If I'm not feeling lazy I use liquid eye liner on my top lashes.

Lastly, lipstick. The color and the type of lipstick I wear depends on what I'm feeling on that particular day. Most of the time, it's nude-pink like Berry Smoothie Lip Butter from Revlon. If I'm feeling laid-back, I use my cheek tint as lip stain finished off with lip balm.

Basically, that's all. I wish I'll be able to make a part 2 of this with  more products  included like eye shadows. I love owning make up and I love creating 'test-look' with my friends. Hopefully I'll be more experimental with my face and apply a little bit more. =D

The Liebster

I've been seeing a lot of Liebster posts lately. Though I love reading the 3 sets of questions/answers, I have no clue what it is all about. I've been tagged by lovely Hannah and I've learned that Liebster is a "chain-post process where bloggers who have less than 200 followers ask each other questions, answer questions and write facts about themselves"

Here are the rules:
  • List 11 random facts about yourself.
  • Answer the 11 questions the tagger has set for you.
  • Ask 11 new questions for the people you tag
  • Tag bloggers with 200 or less followers (make sure to inform them) and link back the person who nominated you.

11 Random Facts About Me: (This is quite tricky since I've already posted an 'About Me' tag, please click here. So I'll just post some facts that I haven't listed yet.)

Draw Something

I was checking some old files from my USB that I used when I was still in college and I came across these drawings (of me) made by my boyfriend. He actually has a unique way of making fun of me. He'll draw a caricature of me sitting with my feet not reaching the floor or looking up to emphasize my being 'tiny'. Well I  stand five nothing and weighs 96lbs. These are scanned drawings, please notice the fold at the center. Enjoy!

P.S. I put my name as a watermark with his permission.

Bibimbap, anyone???

I shared the same photo on my Instagram!
I'm into Korean movies as of this moment and it ticked my interest to Korean culture. I want to be the 'fifth' member of 2NE1, marry Lee Min Ho, learn the language and feast myself to traditional Korean food. One food that took my fancy is bibimbap. I know you're thinking that I should draw more to kimchi knowing it's Korea's national food (according to Wikipedia) but I like bibimbap more!

Bibimbap is a mixed rice dish served in a hot plate or bowl. Warm rice is topped with veggies, meat and egg. I like my egg a bit raw, but don't worry, the hot plate or the sizzling bowl (or dolsot) will be able to cook the egg as you stir all the ingredients (as you can see on the above photo of my bibimbap). I like to mix a bit of kimchi  on it (what??kimchi on rice?) and two spoonfuls of gochujang (a chili peper paste). It's a bit spicy but it makes the food more appetizing! Next time, I want less rice (half a cup please) for more healthy option. Eating unfamiliar dishes also means getting out of my comfort zone which is included on my New Year's Resolutions

Next time I'll try bulgogi (with soju, mmm). But how about you, what's your  favorite Korean dish? Y

My 2013 New Year's Resolutions

Welcome 2013!!!! Goodbye 2012...

from weheartit
When I was in second grade, on our first day of school after Christmas break, our homeroom adviser asked us what's our new year's resolution would be. I said "I want to be a good girl", and you know what her reaction was? A smirk, given to an eight year old! That was actually the first time I made a NYR and that was her reaction. And yes, you're right, I was never a good girl on that year, it's otherwise.

A bad memory on how NYRs started for me.

I have a lot of goals that I wish to accomplish  before the year ends. But it won't materialize if I don't have realistic resolutions. And to give 2013 a fresh start, here's my list:

EXERCISE REGULARLY
I've gain a couple of pounds last year, due to chocolate and my love for anything deep fried, plus I was always hooked to my laptop, and have neglected doing anything more physical to burn taba. I wish to find a decent gym with with, ahem, cheap membership registration fee. My apartment's location is a way too far from places like parks so I can jog. That's why going to the gym is the best option to burn fats FAST.

SAVE MORE
I want to open up a savings account and double up my savings. I wish to lessen my shoe purchases (except for the gym shoes that I'm planning to buy) to fatten my savings. And to be more practical when it comes to buying things. I know I can buy a pants in a cheaper deal at bazaars and department store end of the season sale with the same quality. You just need to be patient finding the real deal!

THINK POSITIVE
I have a tendency to be pessimistic most especially when it comes to my own capabilities. I tend to think that I won't be able to do certain things. I'm also a bit of a worrywart. I need to have an "I CAN DO IT!" mindset.

GET OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE
This year, I plan to do things that I haven't done before like dying my hair. Not anything major since for this resolution, I need to do it one step at a time. I also have to be more sociable and initiate conversation if it is needed. I am also planning to say goodbye to my college tshirts and say hi to dresses, laces  AND heels!

These are my new year's resolutions. Hopefully I'll be able to do it through out the whole year. I have a lot of  things in mind but these are the primary things not just the ones that are on top of my head.

How about you, have you set yourself a new year's resolution too?
